Jul. 31st, 2009 09:26 am Just a quick note

For those of you who know I'm on holiday in Mallorca at the moment, and have heard about the car bomb going off in Palmanova, I just wanted to leave a message saying my family & I are all fine, even though we are staying in the same town. In fact, the bomb was only a few streets away, though too far to actually hear it going off. There were a lot of police, fire crews and bomb disposal squads around keeping the roads all closed off, and when out for dinner we actually heard a controlled explosion a couple of streets away which shook the whole area.

All in all it was pretty eventful yesterday. We're continuing with our holiday (We've not been to see Pirates Adventure yet and I'm not leaving before we do damn it!) and will be home Tuesday. Then Wednesday I'm off to Detroit for a few days so I'll still be out of the country until Monday. See ya then!

Apr. 16th, 2009 05:00 am Why today?!

Look, another rare moment in LJ history...a post from me!

Right, for those of you in the UK, and indeed around the world, the time sponsored by my laptop is 5.01am & I can't sleep!!!!

The reason for this is because in 5 hours, I'll be madly trying to book photos for Asylum 3. But not only do I have to worry about booking my own photos, I've got to book for Lis & Ash now too! Lis because she lives in LA (lucky devil) & it'll be 2am where she is when photos go on sale, and Ash because her internet is being very temperamental at the moment.

My final reason for being anxious is that I have to do all of this from my SLOW computer at work! Now in the past, I've gotten in and turned the computer on at 9.30am, the start of the work day. By 10am I'm lucky if it is even showing my background pic (I kid you not). My wonderful bro in law Gary is a tech guy & came in to look at it and made it run a LOT faster, but this week it has started to slow down again!!! It did have to install updates yesterday so hopefully it'll be running faster today (sends up prayers).

To be on the safe side I'm gonna pester my dad to get us to work by 9/9.15. Course, he has the cough I had from my chest infection from the last 3 weeks so that doesn't help. Oh well, I can but try.

If I'm falling asleep at my desk, no one will notice, seeing as I'm working the reception all by myself today as well. The time is now 5.13am & I'm gonna try to sleep again. Wish me luck.

Oct. 20th, 2008 12:46 pm The Hub

Hey guys, surprise surprise, I'm posting an entry!!!

Figured I should as this weekend I was out with the wonderful Ash in Northampton for 'The hub', Showmasters first Torchwood convention! Firstly I must say that Showmasters are great and I love working for them, but going to their events as a fan as well is just as awesome!!! Definitely try and get yourselves to Collectormania/LFCC or any of their cons because it is certainly an experience!

Anyway, back to the real reason I'm posting. You'll hear all about it from Ash I'm sure but basically the con was great, except for a minor accident I had Friday night. I wasn't planning on going to the party the first night, mainly because I was tired and wanted to be rested for the weekend. But Ash said was I going over and I figured, why not? So, there I was, chatting to my friends donna & Keeleigh (who I forgot were going to be there) when they start playing Rocky Horror's Time Warp. There was no way I was missing that song so I joined Keeleigh on the dance floor (because donna, like Ash, doesn't dance). we get onto the second verse and donna decides to join us!!! Well, this got me rather excited so I went a little over enthusiastic in the second chorus and when the line 'bend you knees in tight' came up I bent, but my kneecap didn't! (don't roll your eyes Cat, at least I was doing something this time!)

Yep, I went down and was holding my right kneecap on the outside of my leg! The wonderful Davie came over and supported my foot with Keeleigh & Donna for the 30 minutes it took for a paramedic to arrive, enduring my screaming at him whenever I felt his arms getting tired and thus causing my leg to move.

Tracie (I think that was her name, if not I apologise for forgetting it) came and had my head in her lap, helping to keep me calm. But I did love the way she said she was a trained first aider but was drunk so didn't want to give any instructions! That was funny...but possibly the point where my laughing turned into crying.

To cut a long story short (too late) the paramedic gave me some 'happy gas' (which I don't like btw but had because it helped the pain) whilst we waited for the ambulance (he was in a car) and by the time the ambulance got there, they had lowered my leg to straighten it for going on the stretcher and this caused the kneecap to pop back in. I was off to the hospital with Ash accompanying me (I did manage to wave to everyone as I went) but did initially ask if John Barrowman could come with me! See, I wasn't completely out of it! lol

Ash & I got back to the hotel at about 3am which wasn't so bad, because we'd arrived there at about 12.45am and they had said it could be a 4 hour wait. It turned out to be a great talking point and I got a lot of sympathy from fans and celebrities alike. The Showmasters staff mainly just turned round and said 'Cassie? It was YOU who needed the ambulance?! Trust it to be a staff member!' lol all jokes aside though they were great, letting my friends queue for me whilst I sat and letting me in the front of the photo queues when my group was called. Everyone was so supportive, holding doors, offering up seats and saying was there anything I needed like a drink or to put my foot up.

Other than my little mishap, the con was great! Saturday night was amazing and the gang (showmasters) did a great job with the decoration of the hall and entertainment that night. Keep doing that guys! It was so great in fact that I booked a gold ticket for next March! My bank account will REALLY hate me. lol

Ash will probably give you a much better account of the con itself, because as you all know, I'm an lj idiot but I'm trying!

speak to you all soon (I hope)

Cassie

Jul. 12th, 2008 09:54 am TIH in the UK?

I feel like my pic right now. All crazy and over the place.

As most of you know by now, I'm trying to put on Ten Inch Hero in London on the 6th September. There is a community set up for it by the wonderful Smecks (thanks hun) and an email address where I'm asking people interested in going to email so I have your details on file. If you want to go and haven't done this yet, the email addy is tihscreening@googlemail.com

But I almost feel as if this has been doomed from the start! The equipment needed for playing the film is very specialist and not many cinemas have it, even to the point the Odeon Cinemas (yes the chain) would have to hire part of the equipment in cause none of their venues have it!

Everything seemed to be going along quite well for a while. David (Mackay) was being really helpful, the organizer with the cinema was very accommodating and the response at the email site was great. But then David went on vacation and it all went downhill from there. The day after he went, the cinema contacted me to say it was no longer available, the number of new people signing on for the screening slowed to a crawl and I didn't hear back from anyone I contacted about hiring different venues!

(wow, I'm having a real rant on here aren't I?!)

I'm still holding out hope that some of them will get back to me early next week, so that I can finalize everything and possibly announce ticket prices/times/venue. Everything hinges on finding somewhere to put it on, and the response from people wanting to come has been great, offering help, suggesting venues they know about, cheering me up with words of encouragement. So thanks to you guys, it means a lot.

I guess I've just never been that good at waiting. It gives me time to panic and i do that A LOT!

Right, rant over, signing off.

HEy guys, I hope this is ok for me to post but I wanted to let everyone know who was at Steve's gig on Friday and the joint Steve & Jason gig last night that I, Cassie, have put all my picies onto my computer and they look fab! So after Asylum I'll be posting them...somewhere. All those who I took photos of with either of the lads, your pics will be up as well unless you want to message me asking my not to post directly to any sites. As you should all know, I'm completely useless with lj so I'll be turning to my trusty lj gurus to lead me through it! lol

Anyway, see you all at Asylum!

Feb. 16th, 2008 08:27 am Make it official

Okay, since it is up at my 'home site' Supernatural.tv, I guess I can tell you all now that I've got some exciting news.

A friend of mine has started her own magazine called Shallow Graves and she has managed to secure coverage of the Asylum convention here in the UK this May. Yvette and Steffs will be reporting on the convention whilst I, will be the press photographer!

I'm not sure of all the details yet, but I AM sure that it's gonna be a blast.

So everyone going to Asylum, I will see you there!

Dec. 6th, 2007 02:47 pm More news on America

Ok, so last time I left this story (sorry it has been a while since last speaking about it) we'd made it through day 2 (was that only the second day we were there?!)

So, Sunday. The day of the LScorpion gig. And what do we three decide to do? We go into the Hollywood Hills...horse riding. *scowls at Cat & Lis*

To understand the scowl, I must set the scene. I'm the experienced horse rider out of the 3 of us (Cat & Lis having only ridden once before whereas I've ridden all my life) but I'm a little rusty as I've not been seriously riding for about 3 years now. Next comes the fact that I'd DISLOCATED my left knee exactly 3 weeks prior and had ONLY just come off crutches for the holiday. Now, I'm not exactly the most enthusiastic walker in the world, but I don't mind doing a bit (BIT CAT! NOT A MARATHON!). Then put in the fact that the stables are up in the hills, at the end of a long, windy, STEEP road that has a bus service that runs along it but...not on Sundays. Lets just remind ourselves...this is Sunday. We also didn't find this out until were were waiting for that particular bus!

Then finally...We get there (me literally on hands and knees with Cat and Lis holding me up) and what do I do? I tell the staff at the stables about my injury to find out which level rider I should put, and they recommend that I don't ride. At this point I think both Lis and Cat were a little afraid of me because they'd dragged me up there and they didn't know what I was going to do if I couldn't ride.

Lets just say I threw caution to the wind and went on it. Admittedly, it was great to be back in the saddle. And also this was my first time riding Western style so that was an experience.

I forgave Cat and Lis whilst we were on the ride, because Lis made me laugh when her saddle started slipping and she kept leaning the wrong way, steering her horse to the cliff and Cat spent the whole time telling her horse that it would all be over soon and then the horse would be rid of her...so long as it didn't try to kill her before then! Revenge is sweet *evil smirk*

Needless to say, we decided to get a CAB back to the motel. We got ready for the gig and went out to dinner at a Sizzler restaurant down from the motel. I made the remark that it was so funny that we were getting ready for a gig that didn't start till 9pm, and it was only 4.30 as we were leaving the room! The dinner was thanks to my parents (cheers mum & dad) so we splashed out on steak!

We got to LScorpion just after it opened at 6pm and got set up with Tequila shots thanks to Sammy the main bartender and Taylor. I had one shot, then fell asleep at the bar (don't laugh! I'd had about 2 hr sleep and jetlag was looming!) It was better then than during the gig. But I was aware of Taylor asking if I was alright cause I'd only had one. Cat and Lis came through for me though explaining. lol

Next time I was conscious enough, the bar had started to fill up and after about 5 minutes, in walked Jason Manns. He's a sweetie, no doubt about it. Shortly after, Steve Carlson made an appearance, getting ready for the night, and I was horrified to see them having to set up the mikes and speakers THEMSELVES! That's what roadies are for! :)

Riley Smith started off the night, and quickly won me over. Having never heard his music before, I was really impressed with it. Jason featured next, and I was so pleased, because I'd missed hearing him live at Asylum! I requested Journey, which he tried, but the guitar was playing up so he couldn't get it! Never mind, I love all of his songs!

Then came Steve and his band. Man, CA breeds some GREAT talent! Riley, Jason, and then Steve! The night was amazing! I couldn't believe how small the venue and stage was as well! They had practically no room!!! But that was fine for me, cause I had a great view from the bar, next to the performance area.

Finally, Alligator Dave sang...and I don't think I've ever had songs make me laugh as much as his did!

During the night, we met Lis' friend Janet, and I'm pleased to say that in that one night, I became fortunate enough to call her my friend also.

I fear that I must leave my tale there as, alas I must return to work. Yes, I'm at work again. That's all I ever seem to do! lol

Feel free to comment. *looks at post length* Was that all just Sunday? And I'm sure I missed some things out as well! Like Lis buying me 2 of Steve's albums and chatting with both he and Jason.

Right, I'm going now. I really am...See, me...leaving.

Nov. 23rd, 2007 01:42 pm My first trip to the States

OK, so I know it is a while since I got back from America, but I wanted to post telling everyone about it but had a lot of things on with catching up with work and moving home. (Yes, look, more posting from me!) I've finally caught up with all my work so I'm taking some time to post for you guys. I'm rather hopeful that my boss or his kids doesn't see this! lol

Where should I start? It was funny GETTING to Heathrow from Cat's house. Because of my knee, Cat and I swapped suitcases (cause even though I "packed light" as per Cat's instructions, I still had "a lot of stuff" and my suitcase was big...it's the same size as Dean and Sam's duffel bags!). Cat had a little pull-along flight bag which could have counted as her hand luggage if she hadn't taken her laptop.

Anyway, we got on the plane (A jumbo!!!!!) and I found it great that we each had our own tv screens in the back of the headrests of the chair in front. And that we could watch whatever we wanted, not what they showed as is per usual for European flights. What can I say? This was my first trip outside Europe! I'd never been on a big plane! lol

The flight took us North over Iceland, then down through Canada and America to LA. The sights as we moved over the different countries were amazing...endless snow, mountains, deserts and valleys. I was breathless.

But the descent to LAX was a scene I'll never forget. And I know Cat won't either. We seemed to approach LA from a Westerly direction, heading east over the city as the plane turned, then descending to the runway, facing out to sea. But as we looked out the small windows, the light cloud cover was perfect because it was as if there was a big reveal of the city as we broke through. Suddenly, downtown LA was in front of us and we were circling round it, allowing everyone on the right side of the plane (our side) to see the Hollywood Hills we'd just flown over...and the Hollywood sign, clear as day. Standing tall and proud, the sunlight reflecting off if its surface. Again, I was breathless. And this was before we'd even landed!

Admittedly, we had planned on maybe doing something the Friday because we got there at just after 4pm. But us naive Londoners didn't realise how big and spread out LA actually is, so by the time we got to the motel, that our taxi driver had to find on a map because he'd never heard of it before, we checked in, unloaded our bags in the room and walked down the road to a local store to get provisions. (Beer, Coke, Chips (or crisps to us) and Skittles). We then headed back to have a break, start downloading the new SN epp, and get some much needed sleep. The jet lag had hit!

Sometime during the night, there was a gunshot, but neither of us really paid attention to it. I think we were adapting to LA life rather well!

Saturday came and we headed out for the Walk of Fame and all the touristy things you do. it was so funny because Cat kept on saying that she didn't want to seem like a tourist...but everyone knew we were because we were actually looking at the names on the stars! When we got to Chinese Movie Theater, they were setting up for the Premiere of Fred Claus. We didn't go to the actual premiere, so we didn't see JDM but I'm over it now (I pissed Cat off with my whining about missing Papa Winchester!)

We met up that day with the wonderful Lis! It was so fun seeing her again...I really had missed her (I love you Lissie!) and now I've got to wait another 6 months before I can see her again! *is sad*

We ended up going shopping for cameras and a top for me to wear to the gig on Sunday, and to look for UK to US converters for all our electricals. We ended the day at LScorpion, having a couple of drinks in there so that we could familiarize ourselves with the location of the venue and what the place looked like. Of course, getting in with the bartenders before the actual day was also a help!

Unfortunately, I must leave my tale there because I've just been given more work to do! Who ever heard of going to work to, well...work?

I'll carry on later, if I can.

See ya!

Nov. 17th, 2007 08:54 am It finally happened

So, the thing that I've been trying to get used to finally happened yesterday.

We've been looking to move for about 2 years now, but of course, was actually decide to GO FOR IT right when I go away on my dream holiday to LA and CHicago (for the SN con).

We've looked at houses, booked with an estate agent and got the new HIPS package the government are insisting on. We even had prospective buyers come round and view the house before the photos had even been taken for it!

But now...the FOR SALE sign is outside, and it is real. We're moving.

Some people might not think of this as a big deal, but considering I'm 21 and this is the ONLY house I've ever lived in...I'm really scared. This is my home. Every room holds different memories for me and although you can take your memories with you...what happens in a few years when they start to fade? You can't just go back and revisit. Not everyone is as welcoming as the mother in the SN episode Home.

I was so excited about the con and going to America...but now, I'm deflated and quite, preferring not to talk rather than my usual non-stop jabber.

I guess I just needed to get this all off my chest because I've tried talking to my parents, and they don't seem to really get it. They're excited about moving (which I am too) because we've "outgrown" this house...but my mother's parents still live in the house she spent most of her life in and she can go back and visit. My dad is never really that concerned about it, so he doesn't see why I worry. My sister moved out years ago but SHE still gets homesick and comes round just to be in the house, so how can they not understand why I cry when I think about never being able to come back here?

Nov. 4th, 2007 12:59 pm mid-night ramblings...

ok... so this is Cat, and my new initiative for trying to get Cassie to post, lol!
so she was gonna post this as a comment to my entry, but i told her it really warranted an entry of its own, so here we are!

Hey everyone, Cassie here. It's 5.50am and I've been up since 2! I think it is the time difference thing. Can't for the life of me sleep. So Cat joined me in the land of the living at about 3, and we've been talking about the weird dreams I had in my 2hrs of sleep, horse riding, and owning a stables (my personal dream).

The gig is tonight so Cat is currently playing with her new camera to work out how it works. So I'm gonna go now and play with my new camera so I can take lots of pics and things tonight.

it's v disturbing, she keeps photographing me (bad enough in nightwear with little sleep) but then she breaks out into raucous laughter... and this is right after panicking m about tonight *develops whole new insecurities*
lol!

yes i've kinda taken over Cassie's post... i'll leave it alone now, lol!

Sep. 17th, 2007 10:41 pm My god another entry!

You looking Cat?!  I'm posting again!!!!

I was all excited but my damn comp just erased the whole entry andI know it isn't going to be as good 2nd time round but oh well, such is life!

I've started to style my lj, so just think Winchester Journal...that's my excuse anyway!

Cat & I are off to America in November, which will be my first trip outside Europe, and farther than any of my family has ever been, so they're all relying on you to take care of me Catherine! (No pressure! lol)

First stop is LA to see Lizzie (Hi Lizzie!), then off to Chicago for the SN Convention!  Course, knowing my luck, I'll be jet-lagged the whole time and really grumpy when I meet the boys so that'll impress them!

Since I rarely update on things like these, I may not post again before the trip so I'll just say SUPERNATURAL IS NEARLY HERE FOR SEASON 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Good, that got that out of my system (I think not!)

Also, the little hamster is excited (aint he cute?!) but I'm also pissed at my comp!  Couldn't decide which to put up, but I'll get over the evilness that lives in my hard-drive, nothing can spoil the happiness that is the USA!

Talk again soon! (I hope!)

Don't expect me to leave loads of posts on my own stuff, because I have never been good at keeping a diary, but if certain individuals annoy me enough, I will!

Talk to you all soon!
